Principal FPGA Engineer

Principal FPGA Engineer

Join us and work with cutting-edge FPGA technology, a skilled international team, and some of the most interesting global customers in the industry. We are seeking a hands-on Principal FPGA Engineer to join our R&D team in Espoo. You will develop and maintain FPGA-based systems at the core of our advanced test equipment. Working closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams, your designs will directly shape the performance and capabilities of Unigraf products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain FPGA systems
  • Design new FPGA components
  • Add new features to third-party IPs
  • Integrate RTL components into different FPGA platforms
  • Debug and maintain existing FPGA components
  • Improve FPGA development processes and architecture according to QA requirements
  • Perform maintenance, design, simulation, synthesis, and hardware testing of FPGA components and systems
  • Occasional international travel
  • RTL development languages: Verilog and SystemVerilog

What We’re Looking For

You have a strong foundation in FPGA design and can take projects from concept to fully tested hardware. You are self-motivated, disciplined, and collaborative, with strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on FPGA design experience using Verilog / VHDL
  • Strong understanding of FPGA architecture and logic design fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Clock and Reset Domain Crossing principles
  • Experience with Timing Closure challenges and solutions
  • Familiarity with common interfaces (DDR3/4, I2C, SPI, RS232)
  • Proficiency with Altera Quartus or Xilinx Vivado IDE (synthesis, simulation, place and route, timing closure)
  • Experience with Modelsim/Questa testbenches for module/system-level testing
  • Exposure to debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) and FPGA on-chip debugging
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for global, cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to interpret and communicate engineering drawings and technical documents.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of C/C++ and scripting (bash, TCL, Python)
  • Experience with audio/video interfaces (DisplayPort, HDMI)
  • Familiarity with high-speed communication interfaces (PCIe, USB)
  • Experience with high-speed FPGA transceivers (PMAs and PCSs)

Senior Firmware Engineer

About the role

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to join our highly skilled R&D team in Espoo.

In this key role, you will:

  • be a strong technical expert in embedded firmware and system-level development
  • design, develop, and maintain firmware for Unigraf’s advanced video test equipment
  • document and test the code, write unit tests
  • perform low-level debugging and protocol analysis
  • perform design/code reviews and document results
  • define time estimates for the tasks together with the team
  • report work progress through regular R&D team meetings
  • work closely with key customers on joint R&D projects to develop new technology

You will work as part of Unigraf’s firmware team, contributing directly to test solutions used by leading global electronics companies. What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Firmware / Embedded Software Engineer
  • Strong expertise in embedded systems, hardware interfaces, and low-level debugging
  • Solid knowledge of C and C++ ecosystems, including build tools (gcc, make, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within virtual teams
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills in English

Would Be a Plus:

  • Familiarity with DisplayPort, HDMI, or USB-C technologies
  • Experience with Altera NiosII architecture and development environment
  • Experience with cross-platform development tools (e.g. Qt)

Senior Hardware Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer with strong expertise in hardware design and development, a deep understanding of electronic components and a true passion for innovation. In this role, you will be involved in the entire process from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, high-performance and cost-efficient hardware solutions that make a real impact worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development: Lead the design and development of hardware components and systems, ensuring all designs meet functional specifications, quality standards and performance targets.

Compliance: Ensure products comply with all relevant industry standards and regulations, including safety and environmental requirements.

Prototyping: Develop prototypes and perform testing to validate designs, identify issues and drive corrective actions.

Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, project managers, technical leads and other key stakeholders to define project requirements, deliverables and schedules. Provide manufacturing teams with all necessary documentation and materials to support sample and product builds.

Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for hardware designs, specifications, test results and analysis reports.

Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of open communication, collaboration, continuous learning and innovation.

Sustaining and Troubleshooting: Support existing products by implementing second-source components and resolving hardware issues. Identify improvement opportunities and ensure product reliability throughout the lifecycle.

Supporting Management Requirements: Meet the company’s management requirements by supporting continuous improvement in process, quality, efficiency and performance, and contributing to system improvements and migrations when needed.


Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in hardware design and development across various HW domains, including analog, digital, DC-DC conversion and high-speed digital design. Experience working in end-product development projects executed in a project management framework.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in hardware design tools (e.g. Altium, Cadence, PADs), simulation software and mechanical 3D modeling tools.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design, PCB layout and embedded systems, including high-speed digital communication, digital and analog audio, power conversion, fault protection, PI, SI and EMC.

Design Review: Familiarity with design review processes, including both know-how and know-why principles.

Communication: Good English communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical expertise, tasks, issues and status updates.

Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a logical, detail-oriented approach.


Would Be a Plus

  • Experience with FPGA and/or ASIC component integration
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain management
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as USB, DisplayPort and HDMI
  • Understanding and experience in thermal, acoustical and optical design
  • Experience in reviewing mechanical designs, reading programming languages (e.g. C, Python, C++, scripting) and interpreting block diagrams to understand system architecture

Technical Writer & Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer

Location: Bangalore, India

Job Summary

We are seeking a versatile Technical Writer QA Engineer to ensure product quality and maintain comprehensive documentation for our cutting-edge display interface solutions (DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C). In this dual-role position, you will execute rigorous testing, contribute to test automation, and produce high-quality technical documentation to enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Writing (70%)

QA Engineering (30%)

  • Develop and execute release test plans and acceptance testing for display interface technologies (DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C).
  • Manage and operate local and remote test equipment to validate product performance.
  • Perform manual and automated testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years in QA engineering, including test planning and execution.
  • Technical Writing: Ability to produce well-structured, accurate technical user manual
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
