Production Line Test Automation

Unigraf Test Automation Software

Unigraf's Software Development Kit (SDK) for test automation is called Test System Interface (TSI). TSI is a hardware-independent, high-level Software API (Software Application Interface). It offers compact and short cycle time test routines with which the functionality of USB-C, DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces can be verified.

Unigraf TSI includes ready-made tests for testing e.g. video, audio, link, EDID, and power delivery.

Minimize Application Programming

The use of TSI and the ready-made tests significantly simplifies integrators’ need to do application-specific programming. TSI ensures the compatibility of the application software with any Unigraf test equipment hardware. Both TSI and Test Cases ensure the user flexibility for future upgrades and, what is a major cost factor, re-use of the written code of the software.

TSI Features for UCD-300 series HW Test Tools

With tables below, you can compare the features available in standard and Pro TSI licenses for UCD-340, UCD-323 and UDC-301 Test Tools.

UCD-240 for USB-C DP Alt Mode Test Automation

UCD-240 is an automated test solution designed specifically for testing USB-C products in the production line environment. UCD-240 features an efficient and effortless way of USB Type-C sinks and sources.

Unigraf's Unique Electrical Tests and SW Based Cable flip

In production line testing it is crucial to ensure that components in the DUT are functional and soldering process and assembly were successful. UCD-240’s Electrical Test can verify the whole USB-C connector with single cable insertion. Electrical Test verifies that all the connector pins are properly soldered. With Electrical Test you can make sure that components in the DUT are functional and soldering and assembly of the components are done properly.

Three Options for Test Automation

With UCD-240 you can run automated tests straight from the command line. This is the simplest way to conduct automated tests as no coding or external software is needed. UCD-240 is also fully compatible with third-party test management software such as NI TestStand. Finally, you can use Unigraf TSI to easily integrate automated tests to your existing test systems using the C++ code. In the video below we demonstrate how you can set up, configure and run automated CRC tests on USB Type-C smartphone.

The Key Features of Functional Testing

  • The tests should cover all features of the product
  • The tests should be reliable, make clear difference between the non-functioning and within-the-specs units
  • The tests should be fast, do all needed test within the allowed time
  • The tests should be flexible to adapt altering test requirements

Test tools intended for design work are often not directly applicable for production line testing. The objective during design phase is to analyze the performance of the DUT while in production line the target is to make sure that the product was assembled properly. Also the test time requirement is obviously different.
